Our Story

The Dream of Wescott Mackay

Wescott Mackay — known to everyone as Wes — spent years cheering on the Hornets, bleeding NC State red, and dreaming of one thing: opening the best damn gay rodeo bar in Charlotte. In 2022, with his wife Rachel by his side, he did exactly that.

What started as Wes Mackay's passion project became the heartbeat of Charlotte's LGBTQ+ Western community. At Mackay's Guys, boots and pride flags live together in perfect harmony — just the way Wescott always imagined it.

Come in, pull up a saddle stool, and make yourself at home. Wes almost certainly has a game on.

The man, the myth, the cowboy hat. Wescott Mackay opened Mackay's Guys in 2022 with his wife Rachel and hasn't stopped smiling since. Catch him watching the Hornets, repping NC State, or making sure every single person who walks through the door feels at home.
